Cougar Mountain Software
Email + Blogs + Social Media + Video Scripts
Meet Gus—the best coworker I ever had. What’s so special about him? Aside from being a puppet, he also played a key role in my early copywriting career.
After a series of failed email campaigns that resulted in low-performance rates, I decided our company needed to shake things up by completely rethinking our approach. I wanted the new emails to stand out and be fun, so I drew the concept on the back of a napkin and handed it to my designer while I got to work on the copy.
After the first campaign was sent out, Gus became an overnight success. Every category from click-thru rates to sales had doubled from the previous two years and was a major breakthrough for the marketing team.
Thanks Gus!
The Legend of Gus Continues…
Gus became our spokesperson and we went on to feature him in several videos. If you listen closely, his voice sounds familiar to Harrison Ford and that wasn’t by accident. Our marketing team got Anthony Ingruber who played a young Ford in “Age of Adeline” to voice him.
Blog Articles

By writing in that style, the blog articles started performing well in our newsletters and eventually caught fire within a Facebook group of accountants where they were shared with positive feedback.
